Well, hello all, and welcome to the official Geeky Bee's blog!
I'll be completely honest, I haven't written a blog since... well, let's just say that I had a MySpace blog, a Livejournal, and an Open Diary. I was quite the little writer back in the day, but it's been a minute!
A quick introduction: My name is Beth, and I'm the one-woman show behind Geeky Bee's Nail Colors. It always feels strange to say it like that, because my friends are wildly supportive and helpful amazing people whom I have in fact been known to call upon for help at live events or labeling large amounts of bottles, that sort of thing. Additionally, I consistently bounce ideas off of and brainstorm with my spouse, who is just the absolute best, and also can be found carrying the heavy stuff and doing plenty of other super useful things at events. So it doesn't always necessarily feel like a "one-woman show." My point is, I don't have any employees. I create the colors, I mix the batches, I pour and label the bottles, I run the shop, et cetera, et cetera.
Geeky Bee's is based in my hometown just outside of Denver, Colorado. I work full-time at my day job, where I have had the pleasure of doing paperwork all day for 13 years now. That sounds tedious and sarcastic, but I seriously really do like my job and the people I work with.
My husband and I are coming up on our 17-year wedding anniversay. We are the human parents for the goodest girl in the world; our furbaby pup is 13 years old now.
I love anime and western comic heroes. I haven't sat down and read a comic book in an incredibly long time, but have several trade paperbacks on my shelf to read by the end of the year. I'm in a book club, which isn't too surprising since I've loved books more than people most of my life and at one point very seriously considered becoming a librarian. I'm a bit of a Trekkie and won't entertain the Star Trek v Star Wars argument because I don't feel they're even in the same genre. Don't get me wrong, I like Star Wars as much as the next guy, but Star Trek is sci-fi and Star Wars is a western in space. It's like comparing The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. They're not really stylistically comparable. (Beatles, though, for the record.) I'm also a music fiend, and my tastes can vary drastically day to day, but nu-metal will always be my #1 love. I absolutely live for live music. I'm in an "album club," too, and it's often the highlight of my month. Oh, and I LOVE nail polish. Always, always, nail polish.
I hope to utilize this space as a way to give you, dear readers, a little more insight into what goes on behind the scenes, or how a collection came to be. I'm very much looking forward to it, and hope that you are, too. I want this blog to be a fun place to geek out about all the geeky, sparkly, magical colors of Geeky Bee's world!
So until next time, my dearest nerds, remember that nail polish is for everyone, to take care of yourself and one another, and that I love you. <3
